God brought an orange cat to me.
I think I know why.
Dad had said no pets, not yet.
And especially,
no cats.
Because of the question of the kitty litter,
and who would have to clean it.
Like, probably Dad.
But even with this declaration, of no pets,
this cat came to me.
With orange and white stripes.
And golden amber eyes.
He said Hello.
And laid at my feet, in the grass,
and purred.
I really had no choice in the matter.
So Dad said ok, because he is an outside cat,
and happy to visit, and come and go,
and leave his leavings outside.
He is his own cat, and responsible for himself.
But he picked us, to be his friends.
So I think God brought this cat to me.
And I think God looks like a nice, old lady,
who wears funny hats,
and likes to tell jokes,
and trails cats behind her wherever she goes,
looking for little girls like me.
